Terms & Conditions of Hire – Karanas Comfort Tours
1. General Conditions
- Vehicles are hired subject to availability.
- The hirer must be 21 years or older and hold a valid driver’s license (if self-drive is permitted).
- Proof of identity (passport, driver’s license, or national ID) is required.
2. Hire Period
- Minimum hire period: 1 day (24 hours).
- Additional hours will be charged at a pro-rata rate.
- Late return may incur extra charges.
3. Vehicle Use
- Vehicles are to be used only within designated areas of New Ireland or East New Britain (unless prior approval is given).
- Strictly no off-road driving, reckless driving, or carrying illegal goods.
- Smoking and carrying animals inside the vehicle are not permitted.
4. Insurance & Liability
- Vehicles are covered by basic insurance (conditions apply).
- The hirer is responsible for:
- The insurance excess in case of accident or damage.
- Fuel costs, tolls, and traffic fines.
- Any damage not covered by insurance (e.g., reckless driving, off-road use, or negligence).
5. Driver & Safety
- A licensed Karanas Comfort Tours driver is available on request.
- If self-drive is permitted, the hirer must comply with PNG road safety laws.
- Seatbelts must be worn at all times.
6. Payments & Deposits
- Full payment or a deposit is required to confirm booking.
- A security deposit may apply and will be refunded if no damage occurs.
- Payments can be made in PGK or foreign currency (conditions apply).
7. Breakdown & Assistance
- In the event of a breakdown, Karanas Comfort Tours will provide roadside assistance or a replacement vehicle (subject to availability).
- The hirer must immediately notify the company of any accident or damage.
8. Cancellations & Refunds
- Cancellations made 48 hours prior to hire will receive a refund (minus admin fees).
- No refunds for last-minute cancellations or no-shows.
- Refunds are subject to company policy and may take up to 7 working days.
9. Termination of Hire
- Karanas Comfort Tours reserves the right to terminate the hire if the hirer breaches these terms.
- Vehicles must be returned in the same condition they were hired.
10. Governing Law
- These terms are governed by the laws of Papua New Guinea.
